Overview

Morning Pickup and Flight to Arusha

You will be picked up from your hotel in Zanzibar and transferred to the airport for your scheduled morning flight to Arusha. Upon arrival, you will meet your professional English-speaking safari guide and then begin your journey by road to Tarangire National Park, one of northern Tanzania’s most wildlife-rich destinations.

First Game Drive in Tarangire

After entering the park, your first game drive begins. Tarangire is known for its diverse landscapes, including open savannah, riverine woodlands, and areas dotted with ancient baobab trees. The park is especially famous for its large herds of elephants, which are often seen roaming freely. You may also spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and a wide variety of bird species throughout the drive.

Afternoon Exploration and Lodge Arrival

You will continue game viewing throughout the day, enjoying both the scenic beauty and abundant wildlife. Later in the afternoon, exit the park and drive to your lodge, where you can relax, enjoy a delicious dinner, and spend the night surrounded by nature.

Itinerary

Day 1: Zanzibar – Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Morning Pickup and Flight to Arusha

You will be picked up from your hotel in Zanzibar and transferred to Zanzibar Airport for your morning flight to Arusha. Upon arrival, you will meet your professional English-speaking safari guide. Then, you will begin your drive to Tarangire National Park, one of northern Tanzania’s most wildlife-rich parks.

First Game Drive in Tarangire

After entering the park, your first game drive begins. Tarangire features a mix of open savannah, riverine woodlands, and areas dotted with ancient baobab trees. It is especially famous for its large herds of elephants, often seen throughout the day. You may also spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and a wide variety of birds as you explore.

Afternoon Wildlife Exploration and Lodge Arrival

Continue game viewing throughout the day, taking in the park’s beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife. Later in the afternoon, exit the park and drive to your lodge. Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha – Zanzibar

Morning Departure to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, one of Tanzania’s most iconic safari destinations. Upon arrival, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a thrilling game drive across the crater floor. Known as Africa’s natural “Noah’s Ark,” the crater is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife within a relatively small area.

Wildlife Viewing in the Crater

During your Ngorongoro Crater safari, keep an eye out for elephants, buffalo, hippos, hyenas, lions, and other big cats. The crater is also one of the best places in Tanzania to spot the endangered black rhinoceros, a rare and elusive species in the wild. As a result, it is a must-visit location for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.

Picnic Lunch and Afternoon Game Drive

Around midday, enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic site near the hippo pool. After lunch, continue game viewing as you ascend back to the crater rim, taking in the breathtaking landscapes along the way.

Return to Arusha and Flight to Zanzibar

At the end of your safari, drive to Arusha Airport for your afternoon flight back to Zanzibar, concluding your unforgettable two-day fly-in safari.
